Preschool Policies

Preschoolers are expected to attend the age department as directed by the ministries director.  Infants are promoted by physical development, and all other preschoolers are promoted once-a-year or as needed to accommodate church growth.  Parents will be informed of promotion.

Meals will not be served in a preschool department unless specified by the curriculum.  Parents should feed their children before they arrive for activities unless otherwise specified.

Parents of preschoolers must remain on church grounds while children are in our care unless otherwise directed by church programming.

Parents of preschoolers are expected to volunteer on a rotating basis in the preschool program.

Ways You Can Help

  • Consistent attendance will help your child develop a sense of trust and security during their church experience

  • Knock at the door of your child's classroom.  A teacher will greet you or return your child and assist with the security procedures.

  • Security can be compromised by an open door.

  • Help your child develop "church security" by coming for him/her promptly at the close of your activity.

  • Clearly label all personal items-especially bottles and other food containers.

  • Clearly label your child's diaper bag.

  • Complete an information sheet for your infant.

  • Bring disposable diapers and a change of clothing for children under two.

  • Avoid bringing toys from home.

  • Separation anxiety is a normal part of child development.  Do not "slip" away.  Honestly remind him/her in a kind, firm voice that you will be back soon.  Leave immediately.  If your child cannot be comforted, we will send for you.  We will follow your wishes as to how long your child is allowed to cry before contacting you.

  • Dress your child in comfortable, washable clothing to enable them to enjoy messy activities that involves sensory experiences.
