Parent's Responsibility

Parents have an obligation to raise their children to love the Lord.  Parents must be faithful to God, and faithful in teaching their children about God, and leading them to Christ.

Message: First a Map, then a Journey

The spiritual journey of a child is dependent on the adults in his/her life who love, instruct, and lead him/her. Raising your child to have a close, personal relationship with God is not a simple step-by-step plan, but a journey that is carefully directed by the Holy Spirit and purposefully mapped out. Godly children are the best investment you can make in life. Never forget that you are involved in a child's eternity. What could be more important?

Map your course. Successful parenting does not just happen. It takes much prayer, discipline, and sacrifice. Seek God's direction in your life and in the future of your family and then begin to map out a plan that will establish a Godly focus in your home. When you don't know where you're going, any road will do. But we do know where we are going! I encourage you to plan ahead and stay committed to the journey.

Seize the day. It is important that your calendar and your daily schedule reflect your commitment to the spiritual growth of your child. Routines are an excellent way to establish good spiritual habits. A regular plan for family devotions, Bible reading, Bible memory, prayer, and faithful Sunday school attendance will establish an awesome framework for the Holy Spirit to work in the heart of your child. Nothing is better than a living example, so seize every opportunity to model your own personal growing relationship with the Heavenly Father. Remember, life is not a dress rehearsal and you will never get this day back again.

As you look to the new year, take this opportunity to create a map that will guide you and your family on an incredible journey to a growing, committed relationship with God.

The responsibility is yours-the power is His!
